El Hospital Regional Universitario de Málaga ha celebrado esta semana unas jornadas para conmemorar el 40 aniversario del primer trasplante de órganos en el centro sanitario. Desde el primero en el año 1979 se han llevado a cabo más de 4.500, de los cuáles más de 3.300 han sido de riñón, 1.038 hepáticos y 190 de páncreas. Asimismo, se han realizado más de 1.300 implantes de córnea y se han llevado a cabo 1.758 trasplantes de progenitores hematopoyéticos. El centro sanitario es referente en donación y trasplantes, habiendo sido en dos ocasiones líder nacional en injertos renales: en 2014 y en 2016.

The Regional University Hospital of Malaga has celebrated this week a conference to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the first transplant of organs in the health center. Since the first one in 1979, more than 4,500 have been carried out, of which more than 3,300 have been from the kidney, 1,038 from the liver and 190 from the pancreas. Likewise, more than 1,300 corneal implants have been performed and 1,758 haematopoietic stem cell transplants have been carried out. The health center is a benchmark in donation and transplants, having twice been a national leader in kidney grafts: in 2014 and in 2016.
